Ethnicity projections show a stratified diversity in Auckland. Otara-Papatotoe, Manurewa, Papakura, Orakei, Whau and Waitakere Ranges board areas illustrate the stark differences clearly. Below the graph you can see which suburbs are included in the board area.
A comparison between territorial authorities shows the sharp growth in Asian population is projected to remain confined to Auckland.
Wellington, Christchurch and Hamilton will see some rise as well but not as significant.
Further south, Dunedin and Invercargill will see little change in composition.
The base year for these projections is 2013. Until that year, it shows the data from 1996 census onwards.
The medium projections were used for the interactive and the analysis.
